Who we are

noverridge is a compact travel title for people who book a big resort and then actually leave it. A good pool and a late table are welcome, yet what we write about is the daylight around them: a harbourwalk, a lake shore, a trailhead, an old quarter a short ride away.

How we make money

Referral fees on hotel bookings fund the whole operation. Tap "Check availability" or "Compare on Booking.com", reserve a room, and the partner on the other end may pass us a slice of what you spend. Your rate is unaffected by that arrangement. Sponsored positions, paid write-ups and pay-to-climb deals do not exist here.

Methodology and selection criteria

The longlist comes from tourism boards and the properties' own websites. Five questions then decide who stays:

1. Rooms. Does the hotel offer a real spread of room types, and would several nights there feel comfortable?
2. Surroundings. Within a morning or a day, is there water, a mountain, a historic street or open desert worth the effort?
3. Facilities. Are there pools, treatments, kitchens or stages that suit a mixed travelling party?
4. Access. How painless is the run from the closest big airport?
5. Transparency. Can a guest look up fees, deposits and age rules before arriving?

Order on the list reflects our judgement of how stay and setting combine. Ratings, tallies of guest reviews and nightly rates are absent on purpose: they go stale fast, and the official source is the better place to read them. If we cannot stand a fact up, it does not go in.

Editorial guidelines

• Our subject is the stay: rooms, setting, food, leisure, nearby sights. Where a property has a casino, it gets one plain line among the facilities and nothing more.
• Every picture is drawn by us; no hotel logos, no hotel photography.
• Numbers are never made up. Anything that varies, such as a resort fee or check-in age, is flagged so you can verify it with the property.
• No commercial partner previews, edits or signs off our copy.

Corrections

Seen something stale or simply wrong? Send the page address and the problem to contact@noverridge.com. A member of the team compares it with what the property itself publishes, fixes confirmed mistakes promptly and moves the review date below.
